What they did here
Ibn Ata Allah was born in Alexandria around the middle of the 7th century AH (mid-13th century CE); the precise year is unrecorded, with later sources giving estimates that range from c. 650 to c. 658 AH (c. 1252–1259 CE). He trained there in the traditional sciences as a Maliki jurist and, after initial antipathy to Sufism, became the disciple of the Shadhili master Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi (d. 686/1287-88), serving him for about twelve years.
