Yehoshua Tzeitlin

Yehoshua Zeitlin (c. 1742–1822) was a Lithuanian Jewish scholar and community leader who lived during a transformative period in Eastern European Jewry. Active primarily in the Shklov region, he was known for his erudition in Talmud and halakha, and for his efforts to bridge traditional rabbinic learning with the intellectual currents of his era. Zeitlin was respected as both a talmid chakham and a thoughtful advocate for Jewish education and community welfare during the turbulent years of the Napoleonic Wars and their aftermath.
