Charedi (Ultra-Orthodox)

The post-WWII Orthodox Jewish movement that defines itself against modernity, secular education for men, and active Zionist engagement. Sub-movements: Litvish-Yeshivish (R. Aharon Kotler's Lakewood, BMG), Hasidic dynasties (Satmar, Belz, Ger, Vizhnitz, etc.), Sephardi-Charedi (Shas movement, R. Ovadia Yosef). The major contemporary Israeli political-religious bloc.
