Memphite Theology — Ptah Creates by Word
A god who creates the world by thinking it in his heart and speaking it aloud.
At Memphis, Egyptians credited creation to Ptah, the craftsman god, who was said to bring things into being by conceiving them in his heart (the seat of thought) and speaking them with his tongue. Our main source is the Shabaka Stone, a Twenty-fifth Dynasty monument that claims to copy an older text; how old the underlying ideas really are is debated by scholars.
