Beyond the Fourth (Turyātīta)
The crowning state: the witness no longer behind the world but flooding waking, dream, and sleep alike.
Turyātīta, 'beyond the fourth,' is Kashmir Shaivism's crowning state. Where turīya is the witness standing behind the other states, turyātīta is the condition in which that witnessing awareness floods and permeates them all — so that waking, dreaming, and deep sleep are themselves lived as the seamless play of one consciousness, with no part left outside. It is not a trance one enters and leaves but a stable transformation: the awakened sage carries this fullness through every ordinary activity. It marks the difference between merely touching the witness and being established as it.
