Tattva 9 — Limited Desire (Rāga)

The third cloak: perfect fullness narrowed to the restless 'I need this.'

Rāga, as a cloak, is the contraction of the divine's complete self-satisfaction into desire. The infinite consciousness wants for nothing; but the bound self, having forgotten its fullness, feels incomplete and so reaches out, craving this and that to fill the lack. This is the seed of all wanting — the perfect fullness of Śiva narrowed to the restless 'I need.'
