Themistius (c. 317-c. 388 CE) was a Greek philosopher, orator, and statesman active mainly in Constantinople, who served several Roman emperors and held high public office. He is known for his paraphrases of Aristotle's works, which made them more accessible and were influential in later Byzantine, Arabic, and medieval thought, and for his political and ceremonial orations.
