Second Coming (Parousia)
The Church still prays for the day Christ returns in glory
The Parousia is the future, glorious return of Christ to judge the living and the dead and to consummate his kingdom. Rooted in 1 Thessalonians 4, the Gospels, and confessed in the Creeds, it is a shared Christian hope. The traditions await it together, though they read its signs and timing in various ways, holding that history moves toward Christ's coming and the fullness of God's reign.
