Herodian (c. 170-c. 240 CE) was a Greek historian of the Roman Empire. He wrote a 'History of the Empire' covering the period from the death of Marcus Aurelius (180 CE) to the accession of Gordian III (238 CE), a span he largely lived through, making it an important contemporary narrative of a turbulent era. Little is known about his life or official career.
