Tattva 2 — Śakti (Divine Power)

Consciousness turning to know itself — the self-aware power inseparable from Śiva, like heat from fire.

If Śiva-tattva is consciousness as pure light, Śakti-tattva is that same consciousness becoming aware of itself — the self-reflection or 'I'-grasp by which awareness knows its own being. Inseparable from Śiva like heat from fire, Śakti is the active, self-aware face of the one reality and the first hint of movement toward unfolding a world. In the Trika, Śiva and Śakti are held to be awareness and its own dynamism, never found one without the other.
