Tattva 1 — Śiva (Pure Consciousness)

Śiva-tattva is the very top of the map: pure consciousness as undivided self-awareness, the silent 'I am' before anything else has appeared. It is the aspect of the absolute as luminous being — pure light of awareness, perfectly at rest in itself. Everything below is a progressive unfolding and contraction of this one consciousness; here, at the summit, there is only the unbroken brightness of the self.
