Tattva 22 — Speech (Vāk)
The power to speak: the subtle faculty of vocal expression, first of the five powers of action.
Vāk, as a tattva, is the capacity for speech — the subtle power of giving voice and expressing oneself in words. It is the first of the five 'action-faculties,' the powers by which the embodied self acts upon the world (as opposed to merely perceiving it). As a tattva it is the speaking-power itself, working through the organ of voice.
