The first liberated grade: a world of rich diversity, all known as the outflow of one Self.
The mantra-perceiver is the first of the liberated grades. Here the world is fully manifold and vivid, with the play of objects to the fore — yet none of that diversity breaks the felt unity, for every distinct thing is known as the outflowing of one Self. Situated at the level of 'pure wisdom' (śuddhavidyā), these perceivers are traditionally empowered by the divine and preside over the potent sounds, the mantras.
