Saturae
Rome
55 CE–130 CE
Juvenal (active late 1st-early 2nd century CE) was a Roman poet, the greatest of the Roman verse satirists. His sixteen 'Satires' attack the vices, follies, and corruption of Roman society with biting indignation and memorable phrasing, and they have shaped the very idea of satire ever since. Reliable details about his life are scarce, with much of the ancient biographical tradition regarded as unreliable.
